The 206GT Dino was the first mass produced Ferrari, yet only 152 were made between 1967 and 1969. As the forerunner of the more common 246, it is a truly a motoring classic. The Dino featured a transverse mid-mounted all alloy 2 litre V6 engine, producing 180bhp at 8000rpm coupled to a 5 speed manual gearbox.
The Dino was a tribute to Enzo Ferrari's only legitimate son, it's name being an abbreviation of his nickname Alfredino. Born in January 1932, Dino studied engineering and commerce at university, and was being groomed to take over from his father. Sadly, he died in June 1956 of the kidney disease Nephritis, a side effect of his more debilitating disease, muscular dystrophy.
